Post COVID-19 events – how is it working?

Following extensive preparation, undoubted enthusiasm and a little trepidation, The Club has finally seen a small return in (just as small) events returning, we like the word ‘Intimate!’  But let’s not speak too loudly just yet as we are in the early days of ‘Post Covid-19’ events.

So what is it like?

Without further ado, we shall hand over to our first testimonial following an event in August and let the organiser speak for us, what better way to get a true picture than personal feedback from an actual event.

I wanted to write and thank you and the entire team of the Caledonian Club for putting on a most fabulous Retirement Lunch for my guests on Tuesday last. I know some of them were a little COVID weary about coming out, albeit in a small group, to celebrate our day but from the moment they were greeted by Matthew at the entrance they felt most comfortable and welcome. Everyone was encouraged to use hand sanitizer before entering the Club and the fantastic Morrison Room where again people could very easily, socially distance themselves. Called by table upstairs to the Johnnie Walker room, another fabulous room where we were very well spaced, indeed at each table and between tables. We were served a beautiful 3 course lunch with many great comments about the Haggis to start and the Beef for main, it was delightful. The food and drinks service was superb and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Mary and I are so happy we picked the Caledonian Club to meet up with some great friends for what was a fabulous lunch in perfect surroundings. Could you please pass on our thanks to The management and staff of the Club for making our day memorable.

It is not surprising that Matthew receives a well-deserved mention, clients often ask if he will be in The Club for their event of which, (as he is part of the furniture) he does tend to be with his cheery smile and dependable wit.

But above all, the day was memorable for all the right reason, the food, the service and especially the staff of whom have needed to learn a ‘new normal’ themselves. Feedback such as the above is truly appreciated, communicated to all and used for further training, development and reward, thus ensuring consistency in the delivery of future events and maintaining the well-being with the staff.

As government guidelines remain during September, which is that events are able to take place for up to 30 attendees in one room, following social distancing, new enquiries are starting to reappear.  We are also starting to get closer to the magic date of Thursday 1st October when larger numbers will be permitted.  We await further announcements with much excitement.

Looking at September, the following dates are still available for the largest room, the Johnnie Walker but be quick to book as they will soon go!  Friday 4th, Monday 7th, Tuesday 8th, Monday 14th, Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th, Thursday 17th, Friday 18th, Tuesday 22nd, Thursday 24th September. October dates for larger events are available on request.

The Morrison Room also mentioned above is additionally rather popular for filming enquiries with many a location scout requesting availability so again, contact the events team asap to check availability.
