If you and your partner are basking in the afterglow of a Christmas or Valentines’ proposal, may we be one of many to congratulate you! An engagement not only brings love, warmth and excitement to couples but a never-ending list of ‘to do’s’ before you and your fiancé get to say ‘I do’ in front of your nearest and dearest.
Choosing the perfect venue in our capital is often one of the first tasks to tackle as this inevitably takes a rather large chunk of the all-important budget and can set the tone for the kind of day you and your partner hope to have. If you’re looking for a London venue that can offer flexibility, style and the very best in hospitality, then we would love to welcome you, your fiancé and your guests to The Caledonian Club.
Founded in 1891, the Club was originally built as a private residence and now operates primarily as a private member’s club but also allows non-members to book their fabulous rooms for weddings or events. Situated in the beautiful surroundings of Belgravia, adjacent to Hyde Park Corner and a short walk from Victoria Station, the Club’s location is second to none and can also offer the happy couple the use of Belgravia Gardens for the essential wedding photos.
The stunning listed building is licensed to hold wedding ceremonies and couples can choose from 4 licensed private rooms accommodating up to 150 guests. Alternatively, couples can opt to marry at the nearby churches of St Paul Knightsbridge, St Columba or St Michael’s in Chester Square before heading to the Club for their reception. Menus can be tailor made to match budgets with the help of the Head Chef and wines suggested by the in-house Sommelier and the Club can offer the flexibility of set packages starting from £135 per person or exclusive venue hire from £4000, both inclusive of VAT.
With 39 bedrooms available in the original Clubhouse and a complimentary bridal suite for the happy couple, the Club can also offer weekend exclusivity of all their private banqueting rooms – another rarity in London. You will also be allocated a wedding organiser at the Club to personally advise, assist and guide you through every step of planning your perfect day – the team understand your Wedding Day should be remembered for years to come – for all the right reasons!
We still have selected dates left in 2020 and are delighted to offer a complimentary drinks reception (T&Cs apply)
For more information please contact our Banqueting Team at email@example.com or call 020 7201 1508.
Wedding days are meant to be remembered. They are days to be cherished throughout a lifetime of togetherness, and for friends and family members to recall fondly. A wedding is a chance to share old stories and create new ones, and to act as a genuine highlight to be both looked forward to, and looked back upon. As such, choosing a quirky wedding venue in London – one packed full of incredible features, beautiful spaces, and fantastic opportunities for customisation – is a key factor for those looking to make a real impact on their big day.
In today’s weddings and events industry, there is a stronger emphasis than ever before on quirkiness, on memorability, and on unique features that make the event stand out from the crowd. Venues across the capital are jostling for the attention of the public, and going the extra mile to provide awe-inspiring aspects, specifically designed to make wedding days the highlight of a lifetime. However, at The Caledonian Club, we have always celebrated our uniqueness on the ever-evolving events scene in London. Indeed, for those who know, The Caledonian Club has long since been regarded as a quirky wedding venue par excellence, and is without a doubt one of the finest places in the capital – if not in the whole country – to celebrate a marriage.
Why is this so? Well, let’s take a closer look at what makes The Caledonian Club a quirky wedding venue which remains in constant demand, and why our beautiful Belgravia clubhouse is considered a genuine benchmark for quirky wedding venues, bursting with charm, uniquity, and memorable features.
A Quirky London Wedding Venue Unlike Any Other
The London neighbourhood of Belgravia boasts no shortage of beautiful mansions, each one as charming and iconic as the last. Indeed, this corner of the capital has become somewhat synonymous with London’s regency beauty, with its townhouses and cobbled streets, air of bohemian sensibility, and effortless sense of style. The Caledonian Club possesses all of these factors, and more besides. Indeed, the beautiful townhouse in which our club is located was the very last of the Belgravia mansions to be built, and continues to exhibit all of the glorious features of its 19th century roots. If you’re on the lookout for a quirky wedding venue with a genuine and unbroken link to a truly illustrious history, then search no further: The Caledonian Club is guaranteed to please in this regard, and in many more besides!
We like to think (and we’re often told by our satisfied clients and guests) that stepping up to the door of The Caledonian Club is an event in itself. It is to step into a world of vintage sophistication and antique exclusivity, frozen in time, and forever as warm and welcoming as it is intriguing. Our wedding events are the perfect example of the impact our quirky wedding venue makes: as the gathered friends and family of the bride and groom walk through our impressive entrance, and gaze in wonder at the beauty of our original 19th century furnishings, they are unable to wipe the smiles from their faces, or the look of wonder from their eyes.
While other venues aim for the dynamism and buzz of the modern age, we’re proud to offer something utterly different: the time-honoured charm of over one hundred years of elegance, preserved for the delight of those who understand its value.
Scottish Character, London Charm, and Universal Distinction
As a private members’ club for those of Scottish descent, we take an enormous amount of pride in providing all the finer features of Scotland in the heart of fashionable Belgravia. At The Caledonian Club, you’ll be able to luxuriate in and entertain your guests amid genuine Scottish finery, enjoying beautiful foods made from carefully sourced Scottish ingredients, all served with all the warmth our heritage is famed for. Oh, and our single malt whisky collection is, quite simply, second-to-none.
Of course, whether you have Caledonian roots yourself or not is irrelevant – we strive to provide quirky wedding venue experiences to each and every one of our guests, no matter where they might come from! Thanks to our fashionable West London location, we’re able to cherry-pick the very best of both worlds, providing a stylish and quirky wedding venue with a real Scottish heart.
A Range of Function Rooms, Each More Unique Than the Last
One of the reasons why The Caledonian Club is celebrated as one of London’s leading quirky wedding venues is due to the fact that we have a wide range of function rooms, interior spaces, and social venues, each perfect for a broad range of wedding styles. No matter whether you’re looking for a small, intimate, and unique wedding, perfectly customised to your needs and desires, or a large-scale, imposing, and impressive function room to make a grandiose impact, you’ll find your ideal – and ideally quirky – solution at our opulent guesthouse.
Unlike many wedding venues in London, at The Caledonian Club, we take huge pride in the fact that our rooms and spaces are not uniform, they are not identical, and they do not necessarily conform to expectations! In each room, you’ll find a glorious wealth of different furnishings, different antiquated interior design ideas, and a completely different – albeit undeniably elegant and luxurious – ambience in each and every space.
Here’s just a taster of some of the quirky and unique rooms for hire at The Caledonian Club:
- The Member’s Dining Room
Looking for a larger function room in which to hold a wedding which really makes a grand impression? The members’s dining room has space for up to 150 guests, and is furnished impeccably with a wide range of period features. Airy, elegant, and the epitome of Belgravia decadence, it’s a firm favourite for those seeking to impress and amaze on their wedding day.
- The Library
With 64 square metres of space, The Library has become one of the most popular function rooms to hire at The Caledonian Club for weddings (and similar soirees) which require a beautiful and atmospheric space. Best suited for wedding dinners and cocktail parties, the deep red walls and row upon row of antique books make this a stunningly quirky wedding venue in London.
- Belgravia Square Gardens
If your wedding day is taking place in the warmer months of the year, then taking things outside to the elegant and peaceful Belgravia Square Gardens is never a bad idea. The Caledonian Club grants its guests access to this iconic secret garden in the heart of this fashionable neighbourhood, and it’s the ideal space in which to pose for photos you’ll cherish forever.
Of course, the list doesn’t end there. There are plenty of smaller and more intimate rooms for hire at The Caledonian Club, and we’re confident we have the ideal space in which to host the perfect wedding celebrations.
Wedding Catering That Goes Above and Beyond
No wedding would be complete without a spectacular array of drinks and dishes, and in this regard, The Caledonian Club always goes above and beyond the call of duty. We’re lucky to have a dedicated team, as well as a highly talented and passionate Head Chef, who will be more than happy to meet with all prospective guests in order to come up with the perfect menu for your big day.
At The Caledonian Club, we’re committed to showcasing the very best of Scottish ingredients and recipes, and sharing those with everyone who walks through our doors. Of course, we also have one of the most impressive wine collections in Belgravia, and a wide array of treasured whiskies and other drinks, perfect more making your celebration go off with a bang!

The question has been popped, the answer is ‘yes’ and the plans for your wedding day can begin to take shape… you probably have an idea of how you see your big day panning out (what girl hasn’t?!) and whether you’ve always dreamed of an intimate day with your nearest and dearest, or a huge party with as many guests as your chosen venue can accommodate.
You’ve probably been told several times that your wedding venue search ought to be at the top of your priority list when planning your day and there’s a very good reason for this – your choice of venue will often set the theme for the wedding, usually take a large chunk of your budget and will ultimately dictate the size of wedding you are able to have.
Interestingly, wedding trends show that many couples are now opting for a much more intimate approach to their big day. With rising house prices and high day to day living costs (particularly in London) it’s easy to see how the cost of a wedding can soon spiral out of control; often overshadowing the real reason behind the celebration and taking much needed funds away from starting married life together.
So is it possible to have an intimate wedding in Central London? Where do you start?
Finding a wedding venue that can tick all the boxes and offer both style and intimacy in our capital city is not an easy task… and we should know! Many traditional venues operate as hotels seven days a week so your dream day could potentially be shared with other brides, corporate events and the general sightseeing public – hardly an intimate option for you and your partner.
Our capital city does, however, have a hidden gem tucked away in leafy Belgravia that we are happy to say does tick all the boxes. Founded in 1891, The Caledonian Club was originally built as a private residence and provides a uniquely personal and intimate setting for your big day in the heart of London. Located in the grand and beautiful surroundings of Belgravia, adjacent to Hyde Park Corner and a short walk from Victoria Station, the club couldn’t be more central. Couples also have access to the stunning Belgravia Square for their wedding photos – green space is hard to come by in central London and it doesn’t come much better than this.
The listed building is licensed to hold wedding ceremonies and couples can choose from 4 licensed private rooms accommodating up to 150 guests. Alternatively, couples can opt to marry at the nearby churches of St Paul Knightsbridge, St Columba or St Michael’s in Chester Square before heading to the Club for their reception. Menus can be tailor made to match budgets with the help of the Head Chef and wines suggested by the in-house Sommelier. Why not incorporate a whisky tasting from the club’s impressive selection? Or walk down the sweeping staircase with a Scottish piper? Your wedding is special and the Club offer flexibility and flair to have the day you’ve always dreamed of.
With 39 bedrooms available in the original Clubhouse and a complimentary bridal suite for the happy couple, the Club can also offer weekend exclusivity of all their private banqueting rooms – another rarity in London. You will also be allocated a wedding organiser at the Club to personally advise, assist and guide you through every step of planning your perfect day – it’s all just part of the wonderful service this gem of a venue offers.
Without a doubt, smaller weddings offer couples the opportunity to focus on the personal experience that can often be overlooked with much larger weddings – there’s more time for the bride and groom to spend with their guests and everyone contributes to the event in his or her own way. Intimate celebrations, it seems, are setting a trend and the Caledonian Club offers couples a wonderful option in our wonderful city.

Sarah Spreckley of Park Lane Events on behalf of The Caledonian Club
After a very long and bleak winter, I think it’s safe to finally say (out loud) that spring has sprung and catapulted us straight into summer and full-blown wedding season with glorious sunshine aplenty.
Although weddings can take place at any month of the year – summer still remains the most popular time of the year at the Caledonian Club for couples to tie the knot with the option of moving certain elements of the day outside if Mother Nature is playing ball. Gardens in full bloom, drinks on the terrace and more photo opportunities are just a few of the reasons why key summer dates tend to be booked well in advance when compared to other months throughout the year.
Regardless of whether the sun is shining or not, one additional bonus of a summer wedding is the abundant choice of flowers that is available to couples when planning their special day. Wedding theming is a major part of the planning process with the flower selection being crucial to the colour scheme and the general ‘feel’ of the day that the happy couple wish to achieve.
Choosing wedding flowers that fit your style and colour palette isn’t always easy if you don’t know your peony from your petunia but help is at hand with this part of the planning – the team at the Caledonian Club can recommend local florists that have styled many weddings at the Club and know what does and doesn’t work in the desired space. They are the experts in this field and will be able to guide you through the process, finding solutions that work well with the Club, match your theme and also the all-important budget.
With ‘Belgravia in Bloom’ on their doorstep, the Caledonian Club is well placed to recommend the best local suppliers to help make your day as bright and as beautiful as possible.
